Serving as a Ministry Coordinator

Ministry Coordinators serve as the link between New Mercies and their church, helping mobilize the body of Christ to care for vulnerable families. They build relationships with leaders at the church they attend, invite others to serve, and support volunteers as they step into hosting and support roles. This is a leadership role rooted in faith and connection—helping the Church respond to the call of family preservation.

Becoming a Ministry Coordinator means championing family preservation within your church. Ministry Coordinators help grow and strengthen the partnership between New Mercies and their church by building relationships with church leaders, setting engagement goals, and ensuring their congregation is connected and informed. They serve as the point person who keeps the mission moving forward in their local body.

Ministry Coordinators also play a key role in mobilizing volunteers. They identify, interview, and encourage those who feel called to serve—whether as a Host Family, Family Coach, or in another support role. They help others discover how their gifts can make an impact and stay connected to offer encouragement and accountability.

While Ministry Coordinators often work behind the scenes, their leadership helps keep churches engaged and volunteers serving. By fostering strong church connections and supporting volunteers well, they ensure that no family or volunteer walks alone. It requires a heart for both the Church and the vulnerable families we serve.

“I felt a strong calling that this is something I should be a part of. I think this ministry is super important to be a bridge to people in our community in times of crisis."
