As a Support Volunteer, you meet practical and spiritual needs that help families thrive—from giving rides and answering calls to mentoring moms and equipping churches to serve. Your time, your voice, and your presence become powerful reminders that no one has to face life’s challenges alone. It's a beautiful opportunity to reflect the compassion of Christ in tangible ways.
Support Volunteers come alongside parents, Host Families, and churches to offer essential support rooted in compassion and Christ’s love. Each role meets a unique need and helps form a community of care.
Transportation Volunteers provide rides for children and parents during hostings. Whether it is taking a child to school or helping a parent get to an important appointment, these volunteers help remove barriers so families can work toward their goals with dignity.
Mentors serve in our Rooted Together discipleship ministry after a hosting ends. They walk one-on-one with moms through Bible study and fellowship nights twice a week, encouraging their faith and helping them stay anchored in God’s truth as they rebuild stability.
Ministry Coordinators serve at each partner church as a vital link between the church body and New Mercies. They help connect volunteers to opportunities, share hosting needs with their congregation, and offer relational and spiritual support to others serving in the ministry.
Support Line Volunteers are often the first voice a parent hears when they reach out to New Mercies. Guided by the Support Line Supervisor, they take initial calls, listen with empathy, and take down information on how New Mercies can best support the family—laying the foundation for a well-supported hosting.
Together, Support Volunteers help ensure that no family walks alone. Whether providing a ride, offering prayer, or encouraging a volunteer, each role reflects the love and hope of Jesus in practical, life-giving ways.
Support Volunteer Spotlight
Support Line Volunteers like Deb and Randy help keep the ministry running behind the scenes, one phone call at a time. During their weekly shifts on the Support Line, they fit calls into everyday routines—answering from home, jotting down notes, and submitting the information online. Some calls are from school staff or case managers seeking help. Others are from parents looking for a safe place for their child during a hard time. Every conversation is handled with care, compassion, and prayer. It may seem simple, but each call they take is a vital first step in a family’s journey toward support, stability, and the hope of Christ.
“Not all my volunteering has eternal purposes, but this one does...”
