St. Joseph Community Health Foundation Grant

New Mercies Ministries is honored to announce that the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant in support of the Director of Child Hosting position, held by Mindy Theard.

This role is essential to the Hosting Program of New Mercies. The Director of Child Hosting guides each hosting arrangement, equipping and providing oversight to volunteers to ensure the physical, emotional, and relational well-being of both children and parents. With this funding, New Mercies can continue to compassionately walk alongside vulnerable families, offering practical help and consistent care.

The impact of her role is seen in stories like Holly’s*. When Holly needed help, two women, Cassie and Lindsey, stepped in to host her children during a difficult season. Cassie welcomed Natalia* and Cameron*, while Lindsey cared for Trey*, Holly’s youngest. Together, they offered encouragement and stability not only to Holly’s children, but to Holly herself. They partnered closely with Jeanne, the Family Coach, and stayed present through Holly’s highs and lows, offering grace, guidance, and genuine community. These connections helped Holly continue forward in her journey toward stability and kept her children safe and out of foster care.

Mindy Theard’s role was instrumental in this and every other hosting. She guided the process from beginning to end, supporting the Host Families, Family Coach, and Holly throughout. Her leadership ensured that every detail was managed with care, allowing everyone involved to serve well and stay focused on building lasting relationships.

We are deeply grateful to the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation for investing in this critical position. Their partnership helps make stories like Holly’s possible, where parents are uplifted, children are protected, and families find the support they need to thrive.

Through this generous grant, New Mercies Ministries remains equipped to preserve families, prevent abuse and neglect, and come alongside parents in their most challenging moments.
